Habits are Helpful

How do you practice self-care?

I used to neglect my self-care because of the same old excuses…

I’m busy

I don’t have time

The day is already over so what is the use

However, reading a book called Atomic Habits and listening to some good YouTube influencers who practice self-care has helped me.

Still a beginner, but taking it more seriously.

Some habits with the following cue, craving, reward and response that I have started for my self-care are…

  1. Do not open my phone until 1 hour or 2 when I wake up
  2. Drinking water when I wake up
  3. Trying to sleep early and prioritize sleep
  4. Eating more healthy food and making my meal plan to try new recipes
  5. Exercise in the morning and walking more to help my well
  6. Create a morning and night skincare routine
  7. Meditation when I work at home to reset my mind
  8. Journaling: writing how I felt on paper than keeping it in and becoming mentally unwell
  9. New Hobbies & Comfort Zone. I’m trying to grow more as a person by putting myself out there where its uncomfortable
  10. Limit screen time and reading books

Travel and Experience

How do you want to retire?

I want to retire peacefully and with a good mary to my name that I contributed to anything any company any foundation and they know that I tried my best and I’m completely thankful and free to do what I would love to.

The first thing is is travel, and do side, projects that would keep me engaged.

I love traveling and the world is so vast that I have not seen anything yet. I have more and more years of me ahead, if I would love to.

Well, because through life, there’s always this blockade, stages of kids, helping people and be involved in so many things that you forget to take care of yourself for a bit.

Even though the world is changing more and more that people are trying to do more self-care in the early stages. But in the retirement in stages, there’s more to look forward to.

Summer and Where do We Begin

What is your favorite season of year? Why?

My favorite season would have to be Summer. It was spring before, but I do remember it could be cold.

Plus when you live in the northern part of the world…. you wish it was good weather every day, instead of freezing, they’re using snow and cold weather.

So, Summer is my favorite season.

Like the Phineas and Ferb song goes…

🎶 The Days Are Longer, the Nights Are Shorter. The Sun is Shining🎶

It’s summer, every single moment is worth its weight in gold.
Summer, it’s like the world’s best story and it’s waiting to be told.

It’s ice cream cones and cherry soda dripping down your chin. 😁

It’s ☀️ summer man where we begin 🎶

Reading List

List three books that have had an impact on you. Why?

Well, I’ve started reading more self-help books lately, because they really broaden my perspective.

All three books that I am still reading, fixed my problems with a little bit of time management, organization, taking charge, letting go control-wise, and personal-wise, looking at some good habits, and reminders of leading a peaceful and good life.

  1. Atomic Habits: James Clear
  2. Good Vibes, Good Life: Vex King
  3. The Let Them Theory: Mel Robbins

Proud Celestial

Do you practice religion?

Yes, my religion is Celestial/ Christian in modern terms. It’s a little bit of a mix between Christian and Evangelical.

I go to Celestial Church of Christ. It’s a Pentecostal church that was found in Benin. But it is spread worldwide and mostly in West Africa.

I pray to god and Jesus Christ every Sunday and always do my nightly and morning prayers.

I believe in the higher power that is in control of everything and everyone in this world.

A Good Boss Can Be Always Missed

Share a story about someone who had a positive impact on your life.

Since I was in high school, I’ve always been afraid of going in or starting to work. Because I was scared about the corporate boss. Because I know they can be intimidating and mean.

But when I got my second career job in the one that I’m in now, I was actually grateful for it, the manager that I had…

She was the controller of our group.

Yeah, well, she is retired now. But I still do really miss her. And she has had a positive impact on my life.

She held me both professionally and personally…

I had a breakdown one time when I couldn’t control my emotions anymore. And I just broke down crying in the office, and she was the one that really helped me and talked to me.

I’ve been getting behind on work. I my head wasn’t straight. I just had so much stress and depression. Stress about what to do or how stuck I am, I wasn’t aware how to begin and how to help.

And really let me talk about all the stress that I am having in my personal life that’s badly affecting my professional career

Stress and fears. Two of the down points that i’m still having, but it’s always a good thing for a good leader to just lend an ear and listen

Even though she is retired, she gives me the confidence to try more and look myself in a better light. She is also one of the people I can look up to.

Camp Manitou

Have you ever been camping?

Well, if I were to remember… I had to or have been camping with my family, no, but I did go on a camp trip to Camp Manitou when I was in high school in the 10th grade.

Camp Manitou

Camp Manitou, alongside one of the lakes in Ontario, far from the city…

Just to get away, have some fun. Especially on a good high school trip. That created good memories for me. It was the first time I was away from my parents for so long.

I think I went to 4-5days, and that was fun. Well, a tough four days for my parents, especially my dad, because he really missed me.

Well, I did love when we got there. Evertjne was separated into squads. I was on the Pink squad. It was so much fun to do different acting activities such as bobbing for apple, dancing at different random times, arts and crafts, eating good food food, canoeing competition and free falling from a high area which I conquered my fear of heights a bit.

I kind of gave up on the rock climbing midway through because I didn’t have any upper body strength 😂😂

But it is a camping experience that I will always remember.

Lost Opportunities

Write about a time when you didn’t take action but wish you had. What would you do differently?

There are many loss opportunities that I wish I could have done differently, or I wish I would have taken action.

I would say if I didn’t take action on joining more clubs at school, just getting more on my comfort zone and meeting more people because I was always the quiet and shy.

I really regret it. Or else I would have made a bit more friends and had more of them. It’s a good school experience.

Another experience would be probably when the pandemic hit. I should’ve got in more time to volunteer build up myself to learn more.

Also, I should have taken the opportunity to go do my Master’s right away after I was done with college. Instead of going straight to work, I would be in a different place by now….but who knows

But the most missed opportunities I would say for myself is going out and enjoying the sociality of many events, traveling, and seeing many festivals just to bring in new experience.

But now I demonstrate JOMO and that’s okay for me..

A Test or a Thrill

What makes you nervous?

Well, everyone’s so nervous about something no matter how small, how ridiculous, or how silly it might be…..

For me, I get nervous in some cases, for once if I have to take a big test or big exam. I freak out. I blank out, and I get so nervous that my heart won’t stop pumping, and I just feel scared…

Another would be if I am about to go on a high rollercoaster. And i’m scared for my safety.

Then, the same sensation comes through my body.

I would say another thing that makes me nervous is the future. I’m getting nervous about this. I don’t know what to do or where I will end up.

Especially when a big change is coming  for my personal life or my life in general, but I just pray and be grateful and just keep on going through one step at a time.
