Break Down the Walls… What Do You See

How would you describe yourself to someone who can’t see you?

I am a person who has a lot of walls up.

Sometimes I find it hard to see myself, including everyone else…

Piece by piece as the wall starts to break down.

I’m quiet and observant, but also can be loud and passionate.

I am always helpful to anyone who needs a hand, but I kind of take on way too much for me to handle.

I’m interested in many activities and hobbies, but also scared to try something new.

I love deep conversations 😌 but can get bored when its the wrong topic.

I love playing around at times….But I take some things too seriously and I mess up.

I overthink and want things to be perfect or I don’t want to do anything wrong. But I learn from mistakes and try not to repeat.

Love classics whether be music, style, events that were great in the past, but live in modern times, and truly try to live in the moment.

I’m cultural and respect tradition…but not old fashioned and understand the importance of how things evolve.

I’m not funny when I try to and funny by incident.

I love to be social but do like when I calm down to try and spend time with myself.

So how should I describe me…

Hmm…

I’m all of those parts and more when I take my time and patience and break down the walls.

Modern in the Right Direction

What traditions have you not kept that your parents had?

My parents are not decorating or festive decorators, or put in the effort into making the holiday special other than going to church.

Or even coming to the festivities other than praying and giving grace.

For example, they’ve never cooked a Turkey on Thanksgiving. That’s something that I had to bring up.

I believe that decorating and sharing the festivities in going out, seeing a pumpkin patch, or going to the local farms is a tradition, and cooking turkey is a good tradition as well.

They don’t really do Christmas decorations or go around the tree. And putting up decorations to get into the Christmas spirit, I had to introduce that to make things lighter and festive.

Even with making up games something I like to put a tradition on. So we can just laugh and play with each other. They didn’t do that in their time because they didn’t celebrate Christmas festively and uniquely back in Africa.

They would randomly go around the shops and visit from sitting outside and just talk for hours.

That’s fine, but I think it’s important for me to part with my very own traditions which I see as a very nice part to invoke in the future for me and future family.

A Little But Can Be Different

Was today typical?

Well, it’s a typical summer day when the sun is shining, but a little bit different…

As before I would not have woken up so early to exercise, trying to get motivated by going for a bit of a walk and having a little bit of a proper routine.

It’s a bit typical, but sometimes I’m trying to work on adding a little bit of new activity or mindset each day. Either learn a new fact or do something that I haven’t done before.

For instance, I never really went for a walk in the morning, even though I was a little bit inside, I stretched my legs.

Also never really spent outside, mostly since I have a hybrid job, but I’m trying to spice up the typical day.

Unique…but Reasonable

How would you describe yourself to someone?

I would describe myself as quiet but unique when you get to know me.

Sometimes…I can be creative or have a mental block.

Passionate about different projects, good news, media, and a lot of rare things to show and look back on.

I’m empathetic, and respectful because I am not quick to judge anyone until I get to know them on a comfortable level and layers for me to let go to show my true self.

I scare easily and am fearful…But I was born in a wonderful faith with a respectful religious background which I always remain humble.

Sometimes I show too much passion, especially for sports or topics I love…

I have a bad habit of overhinkjng and stressful, because ai wnt things to be perfect or fix things easily and too nice.

So I reflect a lot on myself and always try to grow in any way I can.

Can be lazy…but responsible and always loyal to my loved ones because inside that I am still working on, I care about other people more than I do myself.

Quiet, Unique, Simple but Passionate and Caring

That’s Me and I’m still working to be better 🙂

Take a Break & Journal Your Thoughts

What strategies do you use to maintain your health and well-being?

Mental Health is something I did not consider important, until 3 years ago I got wiser and had a lot of personal factors….something that took me to a very low point in my life and I didn’t know how to get out.

So I just thought and searched online what is something I can do to improve my mornings and not feel depressed….

And some strategies that I found out…

1. Try and make a routine to help lessen the load. With mornings and evenings.

2. Add small healthy habits slowly to help your mental and physical well-being.

3. Exercise although tiring and hard at first can go a long way and helps…

4. Don’t wait to start something or learn something new just do it.

5. Meditation and time to yourself is a very important factor that is healthy to add.

6. Journaling your thoughts, fears, aspirations, anger, joy, sadness, and happiness is a good outlet to release stress

7. Planning out meals brought a new joy and improved my mental health because I don’t feel the need to rush or stuck in confusion.

8. Take a break during the day…too much time on one or multiple things will lead to burnout.

I am still reading and looking at some more good advice to add to help me but I still keep on trying. 🙂

Take a Risk to Venture Off

What are your future travel plans?

Well, since traveling to 2 places for the first time out in the world…

One is Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Wonderful place and will definitely go to take a trip back in the future.

Second was Cuba, a budget-friendly place that had beautiful weather, but it will take a different accommodation to make me go back.

That being said, I would like to visit more tropical places and areas of historical value and learn about the culture around the world.

If I were to write down a list…

  1. Jamacia
  2. Spain
  3. Italy
  4. Switzerland
  5. Fiji
  6. Barbados
  7. Maldives
  8. Japan (Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka)
  9. Bali
  10. Bora-Bora
  11. Dubai
  12. China (Great Wall)
  13. Machu Pichu
  14. Cape Town
  15. Tanzania
  16. Florida – Need on trip to Disneyland at least once
  17. London
  18. Barcelona
  19. Sydney, Australia
  20. Paris France
Around the World

It’s a bit of a long list but I really would love to see you around the world and learn more.

I would try probably for some budget-friendly as I am right now.

But I pray and believe that step by step, I can get the chance to visit those places and even more across the world.

I’m even interested in going and traveling around where I live right now in Canada.

Because for 25 years, I haven’t even seen around the country where I was born. So for starters, I would love to see the great Baniff Park. How about taking a trip to see Vancouver?

Take a trip to Montreal, see the culture of Quebec City, and even some of the Northwest Territories, or a little bit up in Calgary, just for a change.

More Self-Care…Less Phone Addiction

What would you change about modern society?

Modern technology has grown so much over the century…

It has done a lot of good in the world. But it also has done a bit of bad, in more physical and mental aspects.

Technology is a wonderful tool.

But it can take away from real connections that were once there previously.

As I was a kid and I got on the bus, people were laughing, even strangers talking to each other and it was interesting. With meeting new people and having fun or any experience.

Now, as an adult and 2025…

I get on a bus, and everybody’s glued to their phones.

Either looking at them for thirty minutes straight or it’s just mindless doom scrolling on social media.

Even my parents can’t put down the phone to acknowledge my presence while doom-scrolling Facebook videos and looks at them all tge time during social events.

And then I get home and you know, they can’t even look me straight for 5 minutes.

So I would change a little bit about modern society may be more attentiveness.

Put in a smartphone feature where the phone is not active until two or three hours of the day have passed.

And even when you go to bed just so that the moments that are meant to be shared are more meaningful.

Variety of Genres

What do you listen to while you work?

Sometimes, when I am trying to relax at work a bit….at times I listen to a variety of music that depends on my mood and atmosphere…

If I want to wake up because I’m feeling bored…I listen to one of my playlist on Spotify called Throwback.

Old songs that just make me wanna get up and move my body.

If I want to feel reminiscent, I listen to a Bollywood music playlist of songs that I love both fast and slow because it’s part of my childhood.

If I want to feel a bit pumped up then I listen to anime music, cause its part of my pre-teen years to now that I would like to give it a listen and make me smile

Music is a powerful thing that I love 😁

Foodie by Choice

What foods would you like to make?

What foods would I like to make?

Huh that is a tough one….

Well, I would say a little bit of everything since I’m a beginner foodie…

First I would write different types of breakfasts to see what kind of flavors are there?

Especially with the various amounts of breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Would love testing out different cuisines, American and Mexican. I’ve been loving Thai recently. Chinese, a little bit of Portuguese eating even more cuisines from my culture, which is Nigerian. But since I did see some Japanese food that I would like to try as well

A favorite of mine to try cooking is…

  • Butter chicken
  • Efo Riro
  • Thai Red Duck Curry
  • Vegetable Stir Fry
  • Homemade Ramen
  • Mapo Tofu Noodles
