Knowing My Own Worth

What’s a moment when a stranger completely restored your faith in people?

Before I got to where I am now, having an alright stable job. I was working in McDonald’s as a late teenager for a couple of months. And I got to the point of disgust and sad because I was staying late washing disgusting washrooms, cleanup in small break rooms and eating unhealthy for lunch.

I thought is this gonna be the only job I am good for…

I got work the cash register one day, and some nice people came in for their breakfast.

Even though it was rush hour to the morning…

One older fellow, came up to me and I greeted him nicely even though I was very tired. He is was kind man….while I was ordering and helping me.

He paused and says to me, You know you are worth more than this. You seem to be better than working here. Don’t let the job confused to know you can do more and you’ll be in better place.

Most people just yell at me, or don’t really consider the rush we have to go through or what anyone does.

So I went back and I cried a little, because it was a reminder of knowing my own worth.

After that, I don’t know it was by instance. But people was helping me and some of my coworkers because they can see what we were going through and was alright.

Even others didn’t, so it kind of restored my faith in people. 🙂

  1. That’s lovely. It took no effort and cost that guy nothing … yet it made your day, and you seem still to revert to his words as a reminder of who you are. And be proud of it.
(Remember, it’s not our jobs that define the person we are. ) 😃
